Textile Pest

These insect pests have evolved throughout time to scavenge on the natural fibres such as wool, fur and feathers found on dead animals. Nowadays these natural fibres are also used in many man made items such as carpets and clothing making them an easy target to these types of pests. The damage is done by the larval stage of the insect eating through the natural fibres.

Textile Moths

  • Case Bearing Moth
  • Common Clothes Moth
  • White Shouldered House Moth
  • Brown House Moth

Textile Beetles

  • Carpet Beetle
  • Leather Beetle
  • Fur Beetle (Hind Beetle)

Signs of an Infestation

  • Damage caused to clothing, carpets, soft furnishings ect
  • Live or dead moths or beetles
  • Pupae (silk cocoons) from which larvae emerge as adult moths

Textile Pests are not a threat to health however they can cause a huge amount of costly damage to your home or business and could even damage items with sentimental importance such as wedding dresses, old soft toys ect.
